    Spring improvement projects

    We have had the first dry weather here in Ohio since late summer of last year.  Tractors were rolling in the fields in the last of March.  We were chiseling, disking, and field cultivating.  This week I will haul some liquid manure.  Some corn has been planted in NW Ohio, but most people will wait until the second week of April and keep an eye on the weather forecast.  I still have some planter repair and some bearings to pack on tillage tools plus lots of livestock chores to do so I am not too excited about planting anything....More

    Air conditioning needed first day of spring

    Two air conditioners need repairing; two mowers need to be out of the shed; three pasture fences need fixing; one garden needs tilling; and the calendar needs checking! Oops, it is March 20 and I have plenty of time before I will need to do such things. Except, not this year. These things will need to get done this week. There has been no planting of corn around here even though many farmers would like to plant....More

    Unbelievable March temperatures

    I have never seen weather this warm in March! And I seriously doubt that I ever will again. Some corn has been planted near Van Wert, Ohio, and I have heard some corn is being planted in southern Illinois....More
